MIND-BODY INTEGRATION
Emotional and Physical Healing
Information
That joy and immense freedom you see in little children is really inside each one of us. Unfortunately, for many that shining potential has been covered over by layers and layers of protective masks, defensive strategies, limiting beliefs, and painful memories.

Every cell in our body has the capability to remember. While the cells in our brain are efficient at remembering facts and figures, the cells in our body are efficient at remembering experiences. Our cellular memory can store the memory of:

  • Physical trauma like accidents, cuts, bruises, surgeries, abuse etc.
  • Emotional trauma like sadness, fear, guilt, anger, etc.
  • Mental trauma that manifests in low self-esteem, unworthiness, worry, etc.

Our subconscious has stored everything that has happened to us, how we felt about it, and the beliefs we formed as a result. Scenarios like the one above add to the evidence that our subconscious mind stores its data - memories, feelings, beliefs - in the cells of the body.  And when the original incidents were traumatic, the pain, helplessness, anger or sadness hidden in our cells can cause both physical illness and emotional problems.

When the energy of trauma gets stuck, unfortunately, there are many situations in which it is not safe to experience the suppressed trauma. This can occur when the trauma was too overwhelming to be experienced and it will thus be too overwhelming to re-experience. It can also occur when the trauma is ongoing and there is never a “safe time or place” to let the trauma be released. It is easy to see how this can occur in extreme situations like acts of violence, abuse, or even near death experiences. It can also, however, occur in situations that do not seem as extreme. I have worked with clients who have had suppressed trauma into their cells resulting from their experience of being adopted, the death of a loved one, moving from a childhood home to a new home, surgery to treat an illness, habitual fear and worry about something that never even happened, guilt they carry, and more. The problem with suppressed feelings is not only does is limit our ability to live freely and joyfully in life but it can also support the body in developing physical illness.

Supporting the clearing of cellular memories is only half the task. Once the trauma has been released from the cellular memory, it then must be filled with an empowerment imprint that is the energetic opposite of the trauma that was cleared.

It is well-known science that our body's cells regenerate constantly. Knowing this, one might ask, "If someone has liver cancer in January, why do they still have it 6 months down the line in June, when the organ is, in fact, brand new several times over?" Deepak Chopra, M.D., author of Quantum Healing , teaches us that what is actually happening is that the "cell memory" is being carried into each new generation of cells, carrying the degenerative cancer cells into the new cell through the cell memory.

Another scientist, Dr. Candace Pert, author of the best-selling book Molecules of Emotion is a well-known cellular biologist working in Washington D.C. She has, on a number of occasions, spoken to the US Congress about her findings on the effect that repressed emotions have on our cells. She's also interviewed throughout the acclaimed movie "What the Bleep Do We Know?!" on that topic. Dr. Pert has unequivocally discovered that whenever we have an intense, powerful emotion that we repress or shut-down, specific chemical changes take place in our bodies. These changes can affect certain cell receptors, blocking those cells from communicating with the other cells in our bodies. If these affected cell receptors remain blocked over a long period of time, there is an increased likelihood that if disease occurs, it will occur in the part of the body where the cell receptors are blocked. When we feel and express our emotions healthily, fully and wholesomely, our cell receptors remain open.
